The South German Natural Gas Pipeline (SEL) is part of the energy transition. The pipeline will initially supply modern gas-fired power plants in Baden-Württemberg with natural gas and transport hydrogen to Baden-Württemberg over a length of 250 kilometers from the beginning of the 2030s. This will enable the phase-out of coal-fired power generation and, as part of the hydrogen core network, will ensure a CO₂-neutral energy supply in Baden-Württemberg in future. The SEL will be built in several phases as required.

German TSOs methane emissions reduction target for 2030

Since 2015, the German gas TSOs have already reduced methane emissions by more than 50%, even though the network has been further expanded. This success is due to numerous measures. By 2030, the TSOs have set themselves the goal of further reducing methane emissions by 80% compared to the reference year 2015.
