Statement on the public hearing on the Hydrogen Acceleration Act in the Bundestag
The Economic and Energy Committee in the Bundestag is holding an expert hearing today on the Hydrogen Acceleration Act (WasserstoffBG). Our Managing Director Barbara Fischer presents the perspective of the transmission system operators and shows how we can really pick up the pace.
You can watch Barbara Fischer’s opening statement at today’s hearing in the following video recording:
The FNB see a need for improvement in several areas:
- Conversion and natural gas boosting measures required for the core grid should be included in the scope of the law.
- Contracts for the construction of the core network should be temporarily exempted from public procurement law.
- The time limit of 2030 for the overriding public interest for core network measures should be removed. The overriding public interest should apply to all hydrogen pipelines until climate neutrality is achieved in 2045, but at least until 2037.
These and other adjustments are crucial in order to speed up the development of the hydrogen infrastructure and ensure a successful transformation of the energy system.
