FNB Gas on the cabinet decision for the Building Modernization Act
The cabinet resolution on the Building Modernization Act (GModG) creates concrete regulations for the future use of climate-neutral and low-carbon gases in the heating market for the first time. The planned greater integration of biomethane and hydrogen is an important step towards a climate-neutral, resilient and affordable energy supply.
The bio-staircase is intended to act as a demand-side transformation signal in the building sector. It will now be crucial to shape the regulatory conditions in such a way that investment security is created and the potential of biomethane and hydrogen can be consistently exploited.
In view of the announced green gas quota, hydrogen is of particular importance. In order to effectively drive forward the decarbonization of the heating sector and at the same time strengthen the resilience of the energy system, hydrogen should play a special role in the design of this quota
