Hydrogen ramp-up
FNB Gas on the BMWE’s Paper Regarding the Green Gas Quota / Green Heating Oil Quota
The transmission system operators welcome the BMWE’s key points paper as an important foundation for a practical and technology-neutral design of the green gas quota.
They view the planned inclusion of hydrogen through multiple counting and cross-sectoral eligibility—which will provide additional demand stimulus for the hydrogen ramp-up—as particularly positive. From the transmission system operators’ perspective, multiple counting is a sensible incentive for ramping up production. However, to create a reliable sales market, the transmission system operators consider a hydrogen sub-quota to be the more effective instrument. Furthermore, the FNB advocates for the further development of the RFNBO criteria, the specification and clarification of the rules governing the eligibility of hydrogen, and the establishment of sufficiently high penalties.
