Roundtable at the BMWE
FNB Gas and the Green Gas Quota
On the occasion of today’s roundtable discussion on the green gas quota at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, a key points paper on the implementation of the green gas quota was presented.
.
The FNB Gas welcomes the fact that hydrogen is explicitly recognized as an option for meeting the green gas quota. A design for the green gas quota that enables the diversified use of both biomethane and green and low-carbon hydrogen can pave the way for a resilient and cost-effective climate-neutral heat supply.
We also welcome the fact that the key provisions of the green gas quota allow for compliance through offsetting. This means that, to meet the quota, the physical hydrogen molecule can be transported via the core hydrogen network and used by an industrial customer. This strengthens the ramp-up of hydrogen by providing a demand stimulus that can be planned well in advance and supports the use of the emerging hydrogen infrastructure.
