Important connection to the west
Green Octopus Mitteldeutschland (GO!) brings green hydrogen to the Central German chemical triangle, the industrial regions in Saxony-Anhalt and the steel region in Salzgitter in Lower Saxony. GO! is thus the future transport route and storage option for this hydrogen: GO! connects the regions and integrates the hydrogen storage facility in Bad Lauchstädt.
With around 305 kilometers of pipelines, GO! will ensure the safe transport of hydrogen between the Central German chemical triangle, the Halle-Leipzig metropolitan region, Magdeburg, the Helmstädter Revier and the Salzgitter steel region from 2027. Connected to other hydrogen pipelines, GO! integrates these regions into the growing European Hydrogen Backbone. A connected cavern storage facility with a working gas volume of 50 million cubic metres stabilizes the hydrogen infrastructure and ensures a balance between supply and demand.
