FNB Gas on the Federal Government’s cabinet resolution on the Hydrogen Acceleration Act

FNB Gas welcomes the Federal Government’s cabinet resolution on the Hydrogen Acceleration Act (WasserstoffBG) of October 1, 2025. However, the transmission system operators also see a need for targeted adjustments in order to effectively accelerate the development of the hydrogen core network.

We recommend, among other things, the inclusion of natural gas boosting measures for the timely conversion of natural gas pipelines for hydrogen transport, the temporary exemption from public procurement law for the construction of hydrogen pipelines and the practical adaptation of water law requirements. These adjustments are crucial in order to speed up the development of the H2 infrastructure and ensure a successful transformation of the energy system.
