Hydrogen ramp-up

FNB Gas on the draft bill for the Hydrogen Acceleration Act

The consultation period on the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy’s draft bill for the Hydrogen Acceleration Act ended yesterday. FNB Gas expressly welcomes the draft law as a necessary step towards accelerating the ramp-up of the hydrogen economy and sees important improvements compared to the previous draft. However, potential for acceleration remains unused in key areas.

In its statement, FNB Gas makes concrete proposals to further accelerate approval and planning procedures. Central to this are, among other things:

  • Determination of the overriding public interest for the measures of the hydrogen core network beyond 2030
  • Inclusion of natural gas boosting measures for the early conversion of natural gas pipelines to hydrogen in the scope of the law
  • Exemption from EU public procurement law for tenders for the hydrogen core network

The hydrogen ramp-up needs speed – and the right framework conditions.
