Board election

Dr. Matthias Jenn elected new Chairman of the FNB Gas Executive Board

The Association of Transmission System Operators for Gas (FNB Gas) has elected a new board for the next two years at its general meeting.

Dr. Matthias Jenn, Managing Director of bayernets GmbH, was elected Chairman of the Executive Board. He takes over from Dr. Thomas Gößmann, who has held the position since 2020 and is retiring at the beginning of this year. The members of FNB Gas would like to thank Dr. Gößmann for his many years of commitment to the association, especially as the association’s front man for the hydrogen core network.

Dr. Thomas Hüwener, Spokesman of the Management Board of Open Grid Europe GmbH, takes over as Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board.

Ralph Bahke, Managing Director of Control and Development at ONTRAS Gastransport GmbH, was elected to the board as treasurer.

Katrin Flinspach, Managing Director of terranets bw GmbH, is a new member of the association’s board and will join the committee as an assessor.

On the occasion of his election, Dr. Matthias Jenn emphasized the central role of transmission system operators for security of supply and the transformation of the energy system:

“The transmission grid is of central importance for security of supply in Germany. The regulatory framework must therefore allow us to continue to play our important role. At the same time, we want to make our contribution to the energy transition and the decarbonization of industry and energy supply. Both are fundamental tasks of our time and require decisive action. With the development of the hydrogen core network, we are creating the basis for a climate-neutral future. In the coming months, it is now important to provide political and financial support for the development of the hydrogen market and to create supportive regulation for the production and use of climate-friendly hydrogen.”
