FNB Gas welcomes the agreement on the Building Modernization Act as an important impetus from the German government to stimulate the ramp-up of hydrogen and other green gases such as biomethane. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The approach of making green molecules a central component of the energy and heat supply is an important step in terms of cost efficiency, climate protection, security of supply and the resilience of our energy system. Hydrogen has a special role to play here, which must also be reflected in the design of the quota. <\/p>\n\n

The hydrogen core network operators are in the process of building a dedicated transport infrastructure for hydrogen so that hydrogen can be used in all regions and sectors. Undifferentiated quotas can run counter to the hydrogen market ramp-up and cause inefficiencies and path dependencies in the (European) gas transmission grid. It is therefore crucial that the planned quota includes the possibility of balance sheet fulfillment and a sub-quota for hydrogen. This should be sufficiently ambitious to promote demand for hydrogen in a targeted manner and fill the hydrogen core network. <\/p>\n\n

Prior to introduction, interactions between different quotas and other requirements with a quota-like effect at national and European level must be carefully examined and weighed up. <\/p>\n\n
