EU Gas Market Package

FNB Gas press statement on the agreement in the EU Council on the “General Approach” to the EU gas market package

On the occasion of the agreement in the Council on the “General Approach” to the EU gas market package on Tuesday, Inga Posch, FNB Gas Managing Director, states:

“It is good that, following the European Parliament, the Council has now also spoken out in favor of maintaining the ITO model, which is widespread in Germany, for hydrogen network operators as well. In doing so, the member states show that they support the retention of the current FNB structures. Thus, there are good conditions that the ITO model will continue to exist after the upcoming trilogue. The task now is to complete the trialogue as quickly as possible.

In order for investments to finally be made, the last hurdles in Germany must also be removed with the necessary pragmatism. If Germany is to have a chance of achieving its hydrogen targets, it must now follow the clear signals from Brussels instead of creating uncertainty by discussing the creation of new structures under company law.”
