Hydrogen Report

Call for cooperation for the initial preparation of the hydrogen report in accordance with Section 28q EnWG

Pursuant to Section 28q EnWG, transmission system operators (TSOs), together with hydrogen network operators who have submitted a declaration pursuant to Section 28j (3) EnWG (opt-in H2 network operators), have the obligation to submit a report to the Federal Network Agency by September 1, 2022 at the latest on the current state of expansion of the hydrogen network and on the development of future network planning for hydrogen with the target year 2035 (hydrogen report).

The FNB hereby calls upon opt-in H2 network operators to register with FNB Gas e.V. as co-authors of the hydrogen report. For this purpose, it is sufficient to send an e-mail to info@fnb-gas.de with contact details and proof of the declaration pursuant to Section 28j (3) EnWG to the BNetzA. Opt-in H2 grid operators will be included in the development of the hydrogen report from the time they are contacted. Currently, the TSOs plan to hold a kick-off workshop on March 21, 2022, with the involvement of the known opt-in H2 network operators, and to define the content and form of the hydrogen report by April 15, 2022.

In addition, hydrogen network operators who have not submitted a declaration pursuant to Section 28j (3) EnWG are also obliged to cooperate with the authors of the Hydrogen Report to the extent necessary for its preparation. In particular, the information necessary for the preparation of the report shall be made available to the authors of the report. The TSOs therefore also ask these network operators to send their contact data by e-mail to info@fnb-gas.de.
