Transmission system operators (TSOs) to invest €7.8 billion in supply-secure and future-proof networks
With the final Gas Network Development Plan (NDP) 2020-2030 published today, the transmission system operators present their planning for a secure and sustainable gas supply in Germany. This concludes the process of the Gas NDP 2020-2030 by the transmission system operators. The H2 start network 2030 for the transport of hydrogen modeled by the TSOs in the draft Gas NDP is no longer included in the final Gas NDP due to the amendment request of the Federal Network Agency.

With the draft of the Gas Network Development Plan (NDP) 2020-2030 submitted today to the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) and published on the FNB Gas website, the German transmission system operators (TSOs) present the network expansion plan for a secure gas supply in Germany. Hydrogen and the transport infrastructure it requires are included as a central component of Germany’s decarbonization strategy.

Workshop on the occasion of the consultation of the gas network development plan 2020-2030
On the occasion of the consultation on the Gas NDP 2020-2030, the transmission system operators held a workshop on May 13, 2020, which was attended by representatives of all levels of the value chain. In addition to expert presentations by the transmission system operators, the Federal Network Agency presented its initial assessment of the consultation document.

Invitation to the accompanying workshop on the occasion of the consultation of the gas network development plan 2020-2030
The German transmission system operators invite to a web-based workshop on the occasion of the publication of the consultation document of the gas network development plan 2020-2030.
The web-based workshop will take place on May 13, 2020 from 09:30 to 16:30 incl. Lunch break takes place.
This workshop is intended to continue the dialogue with the public despite the current situation. The workshop is aimed at both German and English-speaking participants, for whom we will provide simultaneous translation.

The German transmission system operators (TSOs) today launched the consultation on the Gas Network Development Plan (Gas NDP).
The basis of the consultation document for the Gas NDP 2020-2030 is the scenario framework confirmed by the Federal Network Agency in December 2019. Market participants have until May 29, 2020 to submit their comments on the Gas NDP 2020-2030. The transmission system operators plan to hold a web-based workshop on May 13, 2020, to explain the Gas Network Development Plan 2020-2030.

Against the background of the postponement of the publication date of the Gas Network Development Plan 2020-2030 (Gas NDP 2020), the transmission system operators (TSOs) publish in advance components of the current L-/H-Gas conversion planning of the NDP 2020
The essential elements remain stable in the NDP 2020. This provides long-term planning security for all parties involved – transmission system operators, distribution system operators, and service providers – and ensures that security of supply remains at an unchanged high level.

The transmission system operators (TSOs) will publish the draft gas network development plan 2020-2030 on July 1, 2020. The three-month postponement of the publication date compared to the previous network development plans is due to a considerable additional effort for the modeling of the networks. In this context, TSOs have to implement in particular the upcoming market area merger and an additional modeling variant for green gases.
The TSOs are currently preparing the consultation document for the Gas Network Development Plan 2020-2030 on the basis of the scenario framework confirmed by the BNetzA on December 5, 2019. The consultation and associated public workshop are expected to take place in May 2020. TSOs will inform the market of the relevant deadlines in good time.
