- Investment volume of 3.9 billion euros to expand national natural gas infrastructure by 2026
- 113 Measures envisaged for long-term security of gas supply in Germany
Today, the German transmission system operators (TSOs) publish the final version of their Gas Network Development Plan 2016-2026 (Gas NDP 2016). After the Federal Network Agency issued a partial redetermination of the corresponding scenario framework at the beginning of 2017, the TSOs revised their draft Gas NDP 2016 from April 2016. “The Gas NDP 2016 with its network expansion measures is another important contribution of the transmission system operators to the successful implementation of the energy turnaround,” emphasizes Inga Posch, Managing Director of the Association of Gas Transmission System Operators (FNB Gas).
The TSOs plan for the expansion of the German natural gas infrastructure include the extension of long-distance gas pipelines by an additional 823 km and the addition of a total of 429 MW of compressor capacity. Furthermore, in the final Gas NDP 2016, the TSOs have included an additional measure to increase pressure in the GTG Nord network to the south and to ensure a higher feed-in capacity from the Nüttermoor storage facility.
Once the necessary permits (including the planning approval decision and permits under federal mining law) for the construction and operation of Nord Stream 2 have been obtained, the TSOs will publish an addendum to the Gas NDP 2016. This will again include those measures that were removed in the final version of the Gas NDP 2016 compared to the previous draft.

The German transmission system operators (TSOs) today submitted the second draft of the Gas Network Development Plan (Gas NDP) 2016-2026 to the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) and published it. The revision of the draft had become necessary in order to also take into account the Altbach and Heilbronn power plants on the Neckar River.

TSOs publish 2nd consultation document on Gas Network Development Plan 2016-2026
The German transmission system operators (TSOs) are once again submitting the Gas Network Development Plan (Gas NDP) 2016-2026 to the market for consultation. As a result of proceedings before the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court, the BNetzA issued a “partial new decision to confirm the scenario framework for the 2016-2026 network development plan” on January 3, 2017. Accordingly, the planned power plants in Altbach and Heilbronn am Neckar are to be integrated into the Gas NDP 2016-2026.
Market participants are given the opportunity to send their comments on the 2nd consultation document published on the FNB Gas homepage(www.fnb-gas.de) to info@fnb-gas.de by March 17, 2017. A consultation workshop is not scheduled due to the minor nature of the changes.
If a statement or individual passages of the statement are not to be submitted to the Federal Network Agency and the contents of the statement are not to be published, the consultation participant must indicate this accordingly.

The German transmission system operators submit the draft Gas NDP 2016 to the BNetzA
With the draft of the Gas Network Development Plan 2016 submitted to the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) today, the German transmission system operators (TSOs) present a comprehensive plan for network expansion to ensure a future-proof supply of natural gas.
In addition to the work on content, the TSOs focused on an even more transparent approach to the preparation of what is now the fifth NDP since 2012. For the first time, they published a database at http://www.nep-gas-datenbank.de with details on the key figures that find their way into network development planning.
The next network development plan will be published in two years due to a change in the law.
