Transmission system operators publish implementation report on the Gas Network Development Plan 2020-2030

28 expansion projects of the total of 201 measures listed in the Gas Network Development Plan 2020-2030 have already been completed or put into operation. This is the result of the implementation report published today by the German transmission system operators (TSOs).

These include three compressor stations with a total capacity of 62 megawatts (MW), twelve facilities for measuring and regulating gas pressure and eight valve stations. Despite more difficult framework conditions due to Corona, the TSOs are pursuing the topic of converting the market areas from low calorific value natural gas to H-gas with a high level of commitment due to its importance for the security of supply.

Every two years, the TSOs report on the current project progress of the measures contained in the Gas Network Development Plan. In addition, the report provides information on modified, cancelled and delayed measures.

Due to the great importance of the L-H gas conversion for the energy industry, the current status is explained in detail in the 2021 implementation report. So far, despite the restrictions caused by the Corona pandemic, around one million appliances have been successfully converted from L-gas to H-gas as planned. The conversion period for the Salzgitter area was brought forward from the status “after 2030” to the years 2028 to 2030.
